Describe a major change that happened in a previous job. How did you deal with this situation?
The interviewer wants to know how well you handle change (as well as whether you view change as a natural part of the workplace).
As the director of a grant-funded educational program, I was committed to that program’s continued funding, improvement, and growth. In order to accommodate the improvement and growth, much more of my time had to be dedicated to the preserving of funding. The nature of my job changed to being a grant writer, and I found that I was having less and less time to be actually working with students and staff.
Keeping in mind my desires for the overall success of the program, I was willing to adapt to what changes were necessary. It meant re-examination of my time and re-prioritizing of duties… all of which I was willing and able to do for the best interest of the program.
